‘Qualicoat Approve Smart Architectural Aluminium’

Continuing the growth of the Qualicoat specification label for powder coating architectural profiles in the UK, Qualicoat UK & Ireland are pleased to announce that have recently approved membership of Smart Architectural Aluminium.

Based in Yate, Somerset, Smart Architectural Aluminium are one of the leading aluminium systems companies in the UK, providing a full range of domestic and commercial windows doors and facade systems. The company installed a modern horizontal powder coating plant at their Yate premises three years ago, with a view to becoming Qualicoat approved, once the plant was fully operational.

To gain approval to use the Qualicoat label, a powder coating plant must first meet stringent plant requirements laid down by Qualicoat. This forms the basis of the first plant inspection. By having the right specification of equipment installed and being utilised correctly ensures consistent and superior quality of the finished profile.

Following further unannounced inspections from Qualicoat’s independent testing laboratory, Exova, processes are then carefully monitored to ensure that the Qualicoat specification is being followed. Once inspectors are happy that the minimum standard is being exceeded, approval is requested from Qualicoat’s head office in Zurich for member approval.

To maintain a members Qualicoat label, and membership of Qualicoat UK & Ireland, members are visited by Exova inspectors twice each year, again unannounced, to ensure that processes meet the Qualicoat specification.

Smart Architectural Systems join a growing membership of powder coaters, pre-treatment systems and powder coat manufacturers in the UK and Ireland. Qualicoat UK & Ireland association members meet on a frequent basis to discuss and review technical advances in powder coating and sustainability issues relating to production and life expectancy.
