Qualicoat have recently launched a ‘seaside’ class of aluminium powder coating. The standard concentrates on the pre-treatment of aluminium extrusion prior to powder coating and ensures that the aluminium is fully protected against the causes of corrosion.
The pre-treatment consists of a deeper acid or acid and alkaline dual etching of 2 g/m2 (normally just 1 g/m2) followed by a thin conversion layer to completely seal the aluminium surface and to offer a high ‘key’ for the final polyester powder coating.
Members of Qualicoat UK and Ireland will be able to offer the new ‘Seaside’ class finish which offers superior protection for use in many harsh environments. Further information on suitability for a specific project can be obtained from any member of Qualicoat UK & Ireland.
As with the standard Qualicoat powder coat finish, members will be routinely and independently tested for the ‘Seaside’ class and samples will be taken away for analysis at Bodycote.
For the specifier the new optional ‘Seaside’ class offers unparalleled quality which is far in excess of the ‘British Standard’ and ‘European Norm’ 12206-1:2004.
The new standard confirms Qualicoat’s commitment to developing, testing and maintaining the highest possible standards for architectural aluminium fenestration.
Current news and information on architectural powder coating is frequently updated on the UK website at www.qualicoatuki.org. The European website offers the complete specification which can be found at www.qualicoat.net.
